The Photonics Group recruits engineers nationwide for companies that design and manufacture optical, electro-optic, and laser systems. Our major business clientele is small-mid size military contractors who build systems such as laser rangefinders, fire control and tracking products, IR sensors, etc.. We also work with commercial optic and laser component manufacturers whose products are used to build these systems, and with companies that use the military technology for commercial purposes like laser bar code scanners, CCD cameras, or laser surgery. A minor part of our business has been with companies building micro optic or fiber optic products. The common feature of all our clients is that they are designing and building cutting edge optics and electro-optic technology. Our client companies are located across the US, concentrated near the major optics centers of Rochester, Boston, Orlando, Tucson, and southern California, but also in a dozen or so other locations. The positions we work on range from design engineer to senior manager, all requiring a strong technical background in the optics and electro-optics systems industry.

POSITION: Engineering Manager - Electro-Optical Systems
LOCATION: southern California
COMPANY INFORMATION: This position will work with a company that develops military electro-optical systems – including optical sensor systems, electro-optical imaging systems.

POSITION BRIEF: Engineering Manager to design and develop advanced electro-optical imaging and sensor systems.
This position will perform electro-optical engineering management roles on programs for the development of optical sensor systems, infrared and spectral imaging systems.
This position will work on projects end-to-end – from proposal and design, through prototype development and analysis, to product development and manufacturing.
This position will work with a small, multi-disciplined, highly energetic, and technically ambitious team.
This position will develop highly advanced high-precision optical / electro-optical systems
This position will perform work on multiple development projects covering the range of the company’s technology and product areas.
This position will perform roles covering the range of the company’s business development and technology development needs. Technical expertise, past experience, and professional career goals will be respected as the specific responsibilities for this position are developed and evolve.
Candidates for this position must have extensive experience with the design, development, and manufacturing of optical / electro-optical systems, including –imaging and sensor systems, aerospace and avionic systems, electro-optical and laser systems.
Candidates for this position must have some experience managing product development efforts.
Required: BS/MS in Engineer or an equivalent technical discipline; plus strong industry experience, including experience on military/aerospace development programs.
