D E S C R I P T I O N
Were looking for a highly detail oriented Sr. Optical Technician in our manufacturing facility to set-up and operate conventional optical grinding and polishing equipment. Knowledge of spherical measurement and testing methods using interferometers, and optical hand tools. A lead contributor, on a departmental team, in the fabrication of IR, flats, prisms, plano and spherical optics and laser crystals at the component level. Ability to follow ISO procedures and methods. Routine inspection and measurement of optical components for high-end military and commercial applications. Must promote continuous improvement by recommending and implementing new procedures, processes or fixtures. Must be able to layout and schedule work for generation, blocking and grinding areas.
R E Q U I R E M E N T S
- Some of the attributes this position requires are:
High School/GED/Technical degree or equivalent experience required. Five or more years of experience in precision optical grinding and polishing with experience at or near the Master Optician level.
Excellent math skills.
Must demonstrate mechanical skills, fabrication and optical testing techniques.
Provide assistance to other optic fabricators.
Maintain cleanliness of machines, tools, equipment and general work area.
Comply with health and safety policies and procedures.
Must communicate effectively, relating instruction and information clearly. Provide feedback when appropriate to ensure instructions are understood clearly.
