The Photonics Group recruits engineers nationwide for companies that design and manufacture optical, electro-optic, and laser systems. Our major business clientele is military contractors who build high energy lasers. DPSS lasers, Directed energy laser systems, LIDAR, LADAR,s IR imaging Cameras and sensors, Night vision systems, laser range finders, targeting and fire control systems, and space based electro-optical systems. We also work with commercial optic and laser component manufacturers whose products are used to build these systems, and with companies that use the military technology for commercial purposes like laser bar code scanners, CCD cameras, or laser surgery.
A minor part of our business has been with companies building micro optic or fiber optic products. The common feature of all our clients is that they are designing and building cutting edge optics and electro-optic technology. Our client companies are located across the US, concentrated near the major optics centers of Rochester, Boston, Orlando, Tucson, and southern California, but also in a dozen or so other locations. The positions we work on range from design engineer to senior manager, all requiring a strong technical background in the optics and electro-optics systems industry.

Position: Semiconductor Laser Engineer Location: Midwest Experience: 5+ years Education: BS
Engineer will be responsible for developing state-of-the-art semiconductor lasers to support key programs and advanced R&D projects.
Responsibilities:
Model and design high power semiconductor lasers, DFB and DBR lasers. Lead efforts to fabricate, test, and optimize designs. Grating fabrication and optimization in semiconductor lasers. Propose novel concepts for next generation products. InGaAsP laser diode processing. Write reports and proposals. Lead R&D development projects.
R E Q U I R E M E N T S

Qualifications:
- 5 + years hands-on experience in advanced semiconductor laser technology with strong emphasis in device design and fabrication of grating-coupled devices.
- Strong industrial experience in device simulation, fabrication, test and reliability assessment of InGaAsP materials.
- Practical experience with laser holography for grating fabrication.
- Excellent understanding of metal-semiconductor contacts.
- Experience with dielectric coatings.
- Self motivated and strong team player.
- Advanced degree in Physics or Engineering.
