Job Description and Responsibilities
• Technically lead fiber laser design, development and prototype production • Collaborate with fiber fabrication teams with Coherent world-wide to optimize fiber designs for devices • Provide technical leadership to supporting engineering resources in fiber fabrication • Manage high level technical relationships with customers and prospects that lead to procuring and successfully executing significant advanced development projects • Managing internal resources to successfully execute contracts and projects
R E Q U I R E M E N T S
- Education and Work Experience
• M.S. degree (Ph.D. desired) in Physics, Optics, or other related engineering disciplines.
• 5+ years hands-on experience in design, development and manufacturing of fiber lasers (both pulsed and continuous wave) and fiber amplifiers
• Mathematical understanding of rare earth-doped fibers in amplifier and laser configurations – modeling capabilities a strong plus
• Requires a unique combination of advanced technology development skills and experience with commercialization processes or products
• Expected to design, develop and assemble advanced fiber laser and fiber amplifier modules
• Experienced in hiring and leading small development teams with a consistent history of setting and meeting technical timelines and objectives
• Good written and verbal presentation skills, proven ability to analyze data and present results and conclusions
• Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills
